The Court Security Bureau operates and provides security functions for the Union County Judicial Center and any other location where local judicial proceedings may be held. Operated by deputy sheriffs and detention officers, the Court Security Bureau consists of squads, or teams, and is supervised by a Lieutenant, Sergeant and a Corporal. This bureau is responsible for the security and safety of the Judicial Center and all persons on the premises. Teams operate the security entrance to the Judicial Center. Officers are also responsible for maintaining the order and security of court proceedings and serve as a resource to the Judges, Clerk of Court’s staff, District Attorney’s staff and attorneys. Deputies assist jurors during trials as well as victims and witnesses for proceedings. The security teams are also tasked with the movement and security of inmates to and from court proceedings. Court Security also provides transportation. It is headed by the corporal who supervises, coordinates and schedules inmate and involuntary commitment transports. The transport team also provides security to the Court Intake located at the Judicial Center.
